Privacy Policy

Claim Guard ("the app", "we") is a Shopify app operated by the developer of Claim Guard. It checks a store's marketing text for risky health and product claims and helps merchants fix them. This policy explains what data the app accesses, why, who it is shared with, and how it is deleted.
Data we access from your Shopify store
When a merchant installs Claim Guard, Shopify grants access to:
- Products (read and write): titles, descriptions, SEO fields, tags, image alt text, product photos and variant names. We read them to scan for risky wording, and we write changes only when the merchant clicks a fix or turns on automatic tagging.
- Online store content (read): pages, blog posts, collections, legal policies, navigation menus and theme text, used for the whole-store scan and the Store Trust Check.
- Basic shop details: the shop's domain and name, and the session credentials Shopify issues so the app can work.
Claim Guard does not request access to customers, orders or payment data, and does not collect personal data about the store's shoppers.
Data we store
- App settings (store type, automation options) and the list of phrases the merchant chose to ignore.
- Scan history (counts and scores) and a monthly count of AI actions used.
- A change history with the before and after text of every edit Claim Guard makes, so the merchant can undo it.
- If the merchant connects Google Merchant Center: an encrypted Google access token, the selected account ID, and the approval status of products with problems.
Service providers we share data with
- Google (Gemini on Vertex AI) and Anthropic (Claude API): when a merchant uses an AI feature (AI rewrite, photo scan, review letter), the relevant product text, product photos or Google issue descriptions are sent to these AI providers to generate a suggestion. We use their paid business services, under which neither provider uses the data to train its AI models.
- Google Merchant Center: only if the merchant connects it, to read product and account issues.
- Hosting and database providers that run the app on our behalf.
We do not sell store data or use it for advertising.
Google user data
When a merchant connects Google Merchant Center, Claim Guard asks Google for one permission (Merchant Center content access). It uses it only to read the merchant's product and account issues, show them in the app and help fix the related wording. Issue descriptions may be sent to the AI providers above only when the merchant asks for an AI suggestion. Google data is never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train AI models, and is not read by people unless the merchant asks for support, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.
Claim Guard's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Free Store Claim Checker
The public checker at /check reads the public product list that any Shopify store publishes. Results are kept in memory for up to 30 minutes and are not saved to our database. To prevent abuse, the visitor's IP address is held in memory briefly for rate limiting. If a visitor asks us to email them the full list, we store their email address, the store they checked and when, and use it only to send that list and one launch notice. Email us to have it deleted at any time.
Storefront features
If the merchant turns on the age verification pop-up, it saves a small cookie and browser storage entry on the shopper's device to remember their answer for the number of days the merchant chooses. No data is sent to Claim Guard.
Retention and deletion
- When a store uninstalls the app, its session and Google connection are deleted right away.
- When Shopify sends the shop data deletion request (48 hours after uninstall), all remaining data for that store is deleted, including settings, history and AI usage.
- Merchants can disconnect Google Merchant Center at any time from the app, which revokes and deletes the token.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Google tokens are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the operator of the app.
Your rights
Merchants may ask for a copy of their store's data or for its deletion at any time by contacting 7132757@gmail.com. Shoppers' data requests sent through Shopify are handled automatically; Claim Guard holds no shopper personal data.
Changes and contact
We will update this page if our practices change. Questions about privacy can be sent to 7132757@gmail.com.
